Electrostatic Discharge (ESD) Test
Electrostatic Discharge (ESD) is a transfer of electric charge between bodies of different electrostatic potential in proximity and transferred through the air or contact.
Electrostatic discharge (ESD) testing comes under one of the electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) tests. ESD testing is performed according to IEC/BS EN 61000-4-2 and test levels is performed by relevant product standard
Air Discharge
In Air discharge method, the electrode of the ESD generator is discharged through an air gap between the generator and the Non-Conductive parts of the Equipment Under Test.Â
Contact Discharge
In contact discharge method, the electrode of the ESD generator is held in direct contact with the conducting part of the Equipment under test.
